STOP GLOBAL WARMING

STOP GLOBAL WARMING

Step1

Purchase a programmable thermostat for your home. For periods during which you are not home, you can set your thermostat to be about two degrees cooler in the winter and 2 degrees warmer in the summer. This will reduce your home’s CO2 emissions.

Step2
Plant trees in your yard. Trees will shade your home, reducing the need for air conditioning. Trees also drink up about one ton of CO2 during their lifetime.

Step3
Reduce your driving speed from 65 mph to 55 mph. By driving at 55 mph, you optimize your car’s gas mileage and reduce your CO2 emissions

Step4
Buy food products grown by local farmers. Local products don’t have to be transported long distances, reducing CO2 emissions.

Step5
Carpool to and from work when possible. Fewer cars on the road equals less CO2 released into the atmosphere.

Step6
Use cloth bags when shopping at the grocery store. Electricity is required to make plastic, which puts more CO2 into the air.

Step7
Turn off and unplug TV’s, computers and other electronics when they are not in use to reduce the amount of electricity needed for your home.
